Meramec Valley Camp Resort began as a 102-acre resort with 478 camping spaces in 1976. International Villages (later Beal Properties, Inc.) was the developer of the resort. The park was developed under Yogi Bear Resort.

As the number of memberships (property owners) increased the Yogi Bear Franchise became very costly to maintain, while its value to the park decreased. At the annual meeting, in the fall of 1980, the Owner’s Association voted to remove the campground from the Yogi Bear system and become a private (owners’ only) resort.

By 1986, 1350 of 1950 undivided interest as (memberships) provided for by the By-Laws were sold.

On January 1, 1990 the Developer turned the ownership of all the park and improvements to the Meramec Valley Owners Association, Inc. except for the R/V storage lot to which he still retains ownership. Since that time, members' annual dues (maintenance fees) have been the sole source of operating funds for the campground.

The “Fourth Amended Declaration of Restrictions”, The By-Laws of Meramec Valley Owners’ Assn., Inc. and the Shared Ownership Rule Book govern the park.

Each year at the “Annual Meeting” in October, 3 members are chosen for a three-year term. (for a total of 9) to serve on the Board of Directors, to oversee the business affairs of the campground.

Meramec Valley offers 3 different classes of memberships “A” memberships, which allows camping on all sites that provide sewer, water and electric hookups. “B” memberships allow camping on sites with water and electric hookups and “C” memberships are for tent camping only. The tent sites have water in the area. All memberships entitle members to use all facilities of the park with no additional costs. There is a yearly maintenance fee that is kept as low as possible to enable proper operation and up keep of the park.

**We also have a special class of non-voting members called Limited Members. To Qualify a member of your immediate family "Must be a Owner/Member In good standing". To see if you qualify contact the secretary at Meramec Valley Resort.
